What
are the services "like"?
As soon as you arrive, you will receive a bulletin specific
to that service. It contains announcements and the full
order of worship for the service. Lyrics to songs are included
in the bulletin so you can easily sing along. Scripture
and responsive readings are all printed there for you. You
won't feel "left out" or like everyone else knows the drill
but you. Communion is offered EVERY Sunday and it is totally
open and inclusive. You may participate if you wish...and
everything that's happening is explained fully. You won't
feel "lost" or like you're having to perform.
What time are the services?
We worship on Sundays at 10:30am. While we always have chairs
available and plenty of room, we are well attended. You
will see lots of couples and singles and groups. There is
certainly room for you, but you will not feel like a "fifth
wheel" or "the only new person" there.
What do I need to wear?
Dress comfortably. While some people dress up, most wear
casual and comfortable clothing on Sunday mornings. Don’t
worry about what you wear, just come and experience the
difference.

Do I have to be gay to attend?
No. Our church does have a primary ministry to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community but ALL people are welcome. Attendance or membership at Rainbow Promise Community Church is not indicative of one’s sexual orientation. Families and family members and children join us on a regular basis. We are all ages, all colors, all types. Our doors are as open as our communion table...open to ALL who are seeking a relationship with Christ.
Can I be anonymous?
Of course! As a church we strive to be social and inviting and inclusive. But you will NOT be overwhelmed or accosted when you visit. And you are more than welcome to ease your way into the church in any way you are comfortable. If you want, you could probably get 30 hugs and 30 handshakes on your first visit--OR you could join only for quiet, solo contemplation and worship. YOU, based on your comfort level, may decide how much you wish to socialize and how you wish to participate. You may sign a register as a visitor so we may keep in touch with you. But all that is up to you. Early in the service the pastor will ask visitors to raise their hands. That is only so a packet of information about the church can be handed to you. Our congregation is very friendly and open. We are comfortable together and comfortable in Christ. And you are welcome to join us. |
